Contest 2016

Based on the objectives and activity laid down in the founding act and the statute, The Mokranjac Foundation realized the third competition for a new choral composition on 2016. The main objective of the competition was to encourage, reward and promote artistic creation in the field of choral composition as a part of the heritage of Mokranjac's tradition. The task of the competition, it was specified that the composition should be written for choir a capella relying on the Serbian folklore for up to 6 minutes.


The competition, which according to the manner and way of work was anonymous, received thirteen papers under the code. The works were judged by jury: Dejan Despic, composer, president of the jury, Dimitrije Golemovic, composer and ethnomusicologist, Miloje Nikolic, Vladimir Milic and Dragana Jovanovic, conductors.


The most appropriate requirements of the competition considering the jury based on the analysis and comparison of compositions that have been submitted, were selected and aewarded. The second prize of RSD 30.000 won Aleksandar S. Vujic with composition Srpsko kolo for mixed choir. The third prize in the amount of 20.000 dinars was shared by Aleksandar S. Vujic for the composition Ovce cuva Milan i Milena for mixed choir, and Miodrag Govedarica for the composition Otce nas for mixed choir. The first prize was not awarded. The funds for the awards were provided by SOKOJ.


The Mokranjac Foundation will allow audio recording of the awarded composition.
